On second thought, let's not to go Oyabe... 'tis a silly place.
This is coming out of a drainage pipe in the hill they've covered in concrete that's 20m below a junior high school :goog:
Assorted trash today.
The upstairs neighbours moved out! No more elephants clomping around upstairs! No more crying children! No more crying children pounding on my floor while they have a temper tantrum for no good reason! And best of all, free access to my roof again!
Now it's confession time: I have a unibrow. Not a Bert-from-Sesame-Street class unibrow, but a unibrow nonetheless. Unlike many people with unibrows though, I acknowledge that I have a problem, and I try to keep it in check. So, this morning, as I was shaving in the shower, I took the razor to my unibrow. Problem is, the razor was dull, and so I had to press quite hard. This wouldn't have been a problem if it hadn't been for the mole/bump right between my eyebrows, whatever it is. While shaving the hair, I also managed to shave the top off of the bump/mole, and as with any facial wound, it bled and bled and bled. Then it bled some more. After that, there was some bleeding. I had to go out! I couldn't go out with a massive bleeding wound between my eyes though, that'd be gross! I had to put something over it, a bandaid of some sort. Unfortunately, part of the reason I had to go out was to buy bandaids. I only had one bandaid in the house, but putting it on solved one problem and created a new one.
I had Pokemon bandaids. Could I BE more conspicuous? ._. Oh well, I'm sure I brought a smile to a few people's faces, even if it was a, "Oh those crazy foreign people, what WILL they do next?" smile. :)
Now, finally, Peking Opera from March 2005. When I took the video, I was trying to capture the titles as well, but the resolution of the video was shit on my old camera, so it really just ends up being annoying and motion sickness inducing, since you can't read most of the titles. Here it is anyway, though.
This week is school festival preparation at work. Each year, the entire school collaborates on an art project, using toothpicks. It is toothpick art. We started today.
Here's a video. It's an Evangelion anime music video.
ほら!ビデオだ!それはアニメミュージックビデオです。それはエヴァンゲリオンに基づいています。
じゃね。
Since it's Monday, I'd normally post my last.fm top artists for the week chart, and an mp3, but last.fm is slow in chartmaking this week soooooo maybe that can happen tomorrow.
Didn't do much today. A load of laundry; bought train tickets for Friday to Tokyo; took some pictures:
And now, today's video: this is from this year's Toyama International Charity Show, entitled "Peter Pan and the NEETs". In this scene, Wendy is about to walk the plank, and Captain Hook and the pirates are taunting her and riling the firefly squid up. Suddenly, Peter Pan and the NEETs (and Wendy's brothers John, Michael and Ringo) appear and fighting ensues!! Let's watch!
After the fun I had yesterday on my mini-road trip, I figured I'd do one again today. I got a bit of a late start though, and it was cloudy and boring everywhere, so I didn't end up going too far, but it was a good day anyway.
I headed up into the mountains. If you follow the road to its terminus, you end up in Nagoya, but clearly I wasn't going that far. At one point, I got behind this retard who was doing 25km/h UP A MOUNTAIN. Now, if he was a big truck, or a bus or something, he'd have an excuse. Nop, it was a little compact car (but not so compact that it gets the yellow k-car plate). Same class of car as mine, and the most he can manage is 25? GTFO, jackass, learn how to fucking drive!
Fortunately, I was only behind him for like, 2 minutes when I reached the entrance to the Taira Rest Stop, and decided to dodge in there for a little bit. Took some pictures, bought some omiyage for my office and some stuff for me, then headed back out to the car.
;_;!
So, at some point (recently, I'd assume, since I've had the car for three years, open that door several times a day, and only noticed it just then) a tiny lizard somehow got squashed in between the door and the frame. I don't know when, I don't know how... I don't know where, because I've never seen tiny lizards here ever (except for that one last week at the supermarket that was hiding in a potted tree -- but it was smaller and no where near my car). It made me feel sad :(.
After I recovered from that, I got back on the road and headed further south, deeper into the mountains, towards Kamitaira. At the rest stop in Kamitaira, I took some more pictures and did a bit more shopping. As I was perusing the goods at the souvenir shop there (they had some awesome little wooden shot glasses/sake cups, but man, wood products are so expensive), the woman who worked there kept leering at me. When I finally went up to pay, she rang me up and then was like, I'VE SEEN YOU.
O_O what?!
YOU WERE AT TONAMI HOSPITAL! I SAW YOU!
Ahh, yes, I sometimes go there.
IT'S A GOOD HOSPITALHOW CLOSE DO YOU LIVE TO IT?!
Um, a few blocks?
I SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Okay crazy mountain lady, let me go, so you can return to cooking your bear stew and dancing the Mugiya.
On the way back down the mountain, I turned at the light (I say 'the light', because there really is only one up in that neck of the woods) instead of going straight. This way I could see some new scenery, and also, it's less curvy and therefore less work. Also, Gokayama Tunnel is super long and awesome to drive in. Just past the bottom of the tunnel, a few minutes out of Johana, there's an overlook on Rt. 304 that I've been to before, and I figured I'd make a stop there and take a few pictures.
Then I headed back home. It wasn't a bad day.
And now for something that I plan to make a bit of a thing for the next, oh, 116 days or so, video time! I've taken bunches and bunches of video with my camera, but since YouTube permabanned me, I don't really have anywhere to show stuff soooooo let's enjoying it here. You guys will appreciate it more than the YouTube crowd would anyway. :)
(Note to those readers on LiveJournal or Facebook: click through on the video images to watch the video, or join Vox and add me to your neighbourhood so you can enjoy it directly.)
(Note to Vox: See how well I pimp your goods?)
First, four videos I've taken recently, all of driving. Most of my videos are driving vids. Yeah, maybe it's a bit bleeh, but you can see some typical scenes of life in Japan maybe, sooo that's cool yes? These first two were taken yesterday on my way back from Nanao.
... nono, the morrow, not the marrow. No I didn't say I was going to break your bones and suck the marrow out. Yes I did say that marrow is the most delicious part of the cow, but... no no, it's not vile, I assure you.
