I dunno if I ate something bad yesterday or what, but around bedtime, I got these really bad stomach cramps, and nothing was really helping them, so I just went to bed. Laying down helped them a bit, but not entirely. I still fell asleep without too much trouble...
But then I had House-related dreams all night. Seriously, it's like I was marathonning the next 4 seasons of House for no apparent reason. It was fucking retarded.
13 joined a band as the singer, just on the side, to relax and kick back, but then they wanted to go pro, but they didn't want to make her choose between medicine and showbiz, and the drummer was talking to House about it.
Taub was taking samples of the inside of a tanker truck of some sort, but then it blew up with him inside, but he escaped out the bottom with just some minor burns and a really dirty face.
Kumar (lawl) was sleeping in the nursery because he had formed a bond with some random woman's baby, and he was obsessing about making sure that the baby would never experience bad things, or mean people, or something.
I DON'T KNOW. INDIGESTION DOES STUPID THINGS TO ME.
I don't need to go into much detail about this, do I? It's V6. (shrug)
The video was done in one take apparently? I think that's what they said in the making of dealio. This was the end theme for SP.
When I was a kid, my mom worked nights. She was single-momming it, and our apartment was within view of where she worked, so she just left me at home alone. Sometimes, I couldn't sleep, so I'd get up and watch TV.
At that time of night, all our stations had gone off the air. Some cable stations showed infomercials. Global showed video taken from a car that was following another car. This went on all night, just video of a car driving around, shot from behind. The background music was some sort of light jazz, like you'd find in a stereotypical smoky bar in the basement of some building on TV.
It was surreal. And now, with the way I feel tonight, lapsing between kind of okay, and on the verge of passing out, I'm in some sort of weird waking dream state, all the while with this tightness in my chest and a wheezy, hollow cough. It takes me back, for some reason, so those nights spent on that maroon-coloured sofa on the third floor of that apartment near the donut shop, watching a car drive endlessly around a darkened city while an unseen jazz quartet played on.
Tonight, the only thing I'm missing for a recreation of that feeling is my jazz car, though a travelogue with no speaking and only Baroque strings to accompany it would suffice, I think.
What on earth is going on?
I've been catching up on a long backlog of stuff I've acquired but not watched. I watched SP (the police drama from late last year/early this year, with Junichi Okada) over the past couple days, and it was far less stupid than I expected it to be -- in fact, I'd go so far as to say it was good. The AAH, I HAVE SUPER SENSORY POWERS OF MYSTERY AAAH premise was a little silly at the start, but it got less so as the series progressed. Additionally, the music is pretty good (well, the original music anyway -- the insert songs are the overblown melodramatic cockery I've come to expect from Japanese drama.)
What else have I watched... hmmm...
- Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01: You are not alone
- Drive
- Beautiful Sunday
- Bedknobs and Broomsticks
- Squid Wrestler
- Cosmic Rescue
- Dororo
- Mysterious Skin
- Road Movie
- Russian Ark
- SARS Wars
- Summer Time Machine Blues
- 4.6 Billion Years of Love
These are the ones that weren't bad and that I'd suggest watching. I saw a bunch of other ones (in part, at any rate), but they were bad enough to never ever be seen again. That's not to say that all of these are masterpieces of cinema or television -- they just had a redeeming quality of some sort. Check them out, or feel free to ask me questions about these if you like.
So, the first part of "The Triangle" is on TV.
Sam Neill wants Senator Kelly, some ginger guy, some Aussie prick, and a woman from JAG to find out why his ships are disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle while some chick I should know is taking the piss from the guy from 21 Jump Street. Good times, good times...
EXCEPT, CLEARLY IT IS A FUCKING TRAP! The Bermuda Triangle is CLEARLY the gate to Sam Neill's evil extra-dimensional desert fortress in which he keeps his model of the Universe, which he can use at any time to DESTROY US ALL.
God, why am I the only one who sees this?!
15 years ago, Lisa Edelstein, the actress who plays Dr. Lisa Cuddy on House, was in two episodes of Seinfeld: "The Mango", and "The Masseuse".
In Japan, Dana Scully, one of the lead characters of The X-Files, is not called "Day-nah", but rather "Da-nah", presumably because they read her name as it would be read if it were romaji.
Scully's father, in X-files, though he didn't appear often, only in flashbacks and when he died, was played by the guy who would be General Hammond on Stargate SG-1.
THAT'S TOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE!
Oh lawd, it's American Idol time again! I only watch until the end of auditions, because I don't care about the outcome of the cookie cutter shitty music competition; I only care about the "let's be mean to people who put themselves out there even though they should know better" lulz though.
I suppose that makes me a horrible person, for enjoying that aspect. But some of them truly are horrible and really ought to be mocked.
My other favourite part is watching Paula get drunker and drunker. She's such a drunk! Comedy gold.
And now, a pointless video of Ueno Station.
I have a buttload of stuff I need to watch. As I mentioned earlier, my media drive is almost full, so I have to either watch shit and move it elsewhere (to DVD) or delete it. IT's stupid to just burn stuff to DVD if I don't know if I want to keep it, etc, soooooooo gotta watch stuff. Was gonna do that this winter holiday, but didn't end up doing it, but it's really quite pressing now.
Anyway, as I mentioned, I started with The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, which I'm just about finished (but I had to download the last two eps, because due to some oversight for which I'm blaming Doom, I didn't have them), and so I need to pick my next thing to watch.
Here's a list of things I have; please suggest something from it that you think I should definitely bump to the top of the queue.
Anime
Initial D (all of it)
Jubei-chan (the first, Lovely Eyepatch one)
Jubei-chan (the second, Siberian Yagyu one)
Sol Bianca (the OVA and the movies)
RahXephon The Motion Picture (I've already watched the series, a while back, and found it excellent)
Beyond the Clouds (that movie from the guy who did She and Her Cat, and Hoshi no Koe)
Movies
Love & Pop
Ritual (both of these are Hideaki Anno movies)
Battle Royale 2
Godzilla (the 1954 original)
Moon Child (it apparently has Gackt in it)
... okay that list is shorter than I thought it was. Turns out most of the movies and stuff are things I definitely plan on keeping, and have already watched.
Anyway, there's the list, please suggest.
